Default CRX DX, HF, or SI

i'll probably go to the car auction this Thurs. I was wondering if there was a way to tell whether a CRX is a SI, DX, or HF by looking at the pictures. Help me out please.

red CRX

blue CRX

RED crx looks like an si due to the moonroof...though look out for aftermarket units that are just the cheapo popup ones

the BLUE one looks like a dx due to the right side passenger mirror...optional on the hf models

best way is to look under the hood...look up some posts with pics from POONTANG...he has a dx and has several pictures showing the engine bay...the dx will also say DPFI...the HF and SI are both MPFI...the SI had a factory sunroof and rear window wiper...the HF was bare bones and comes with little unless they were ordered options

Wasn't the right side mirror optional on DX also? Or was that just for the Hatch?

That red one is not an Si. The sunroof in it is glass, not metal like the OEM one. The blue one has Si wheels, but Si's never came in that color, not to mention that the blue one is a 90 or 91 by the picture but those are 88-89 Si wheels. My guess is that they are both DX's.

Like jaje said the best way to find out what model they are is to look under the hood. The DX came with dual point fuel injection which will look like a big Circlular piece on top of the intake manifold where the Si and HF come with the traditional log style Multi port fuel injection manifold. The HF throttle body will look so small that you can almost clog it with a quarter (and inch and a half in diameter, MAYBE) where the Si throttle body will look about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 in diameter. The valve cover on both the Si and DX with also say 16 valve.

i can't tell if the moonroof is glass...but my eyes aren't the best

another way to tell is to run the VINs unless the dashes are also different

If you look at the roof you can see where the clamps are on the front for the hinges and on the back for the latch. It is hard to see because someone painted them with the car WTF? I don't know about anyone else here with an Si but my moonroof is completely flat.

i don't know...both could get all the same options (except sunroof)...only real way to tell is run the vin in the doorjam or on the dash or look in the engine bay
