Lowering Question????
Just got a sweet 90 CRX si. and going to do some mods..... Wheels, cold air, exhaust, ect. was also wanting to lower it just alittle! The question is how do these guys with 17" or 18" lower them so low without fender rubbing? Thanks!!!!!

If you're planning on lowering your rex I'd do what most people do. Kyb Agx shocks/eibach springs w/ camber kit & 16's. You should go w/ 205-45-16. Post pic. up when you do your mods.

The highlighted items are oxy morons... You dont add performance mods, and then slam huge ass 17" ad 18" wheels onto a car that comes stock with 14" and 15"... They will just cancel each other out... Hell the bigger wheels will probably have an even more adverse effect than the few HP you might be gaining with the bolt ons... Do your self a favor and get a set of 15 or 16s... 17s and up are just too big for a CRX... Just my .02 cents anyways...

Stock is 13" and 14" but yeah I run 15" and everybody thinks they are a bigger wheel. 16" is the largest I would put on these cars. I have seen 17's and 18's and they jack the car up even with low pros.

Acceleration is faster if you have a smaller wheel (case in point most Honda drag racers use 13" wheels versus 22" ones)...why? Well the smaller diameter wheel makes gearing shorter and better acceleration, smaller wheels and the associated tires also weigh less meaning less rotational inertia (less effort to turn the wheel one revolution either by accelerating or stopping it). Most people who upgrade wheel sizes do it for the look and the misconception that it'll make the car faster (as it looks faster). 15" is the max I advise on an EF Civic/CRX. You get the good looks (the availability of affordable and quality wheels is very high), it remains near factory spec so hardly any worries about affecting your speedo/odo meters, you keep decent acceleration (putting 17" wheels on a CRX makes it very slow and adds tire rubbing problems not just from fenders but from width in lock to lock turning).

Ok you guys got me all wrong! Just was wondering how people got them 17's ,18's tuck under the fender and still able to drive them too! As for me I'm getting 35 mpg with the ZC motor w/cold air system Didn't want to mess the gas mileage being i drive 120 miles round trip a day so Running 15" on the rims w/195/50/15 tires, made own exhaust with a Ebay 4" stainless steel muffler. (Dad own's muffler shop) And still like to do more to it! But i also thought when you lower it alittle (Not slamming it) so it's snug the groung for more handleing Am I wrong????
