You can do a VTEC head swap its called a minime swap this is very common you take the head from a Y8 or z6 motor and drop it on your block. there are many right ups on this and a quick search will give you many results.

Oh VTECH is a phone.

people here really hate it when you spell v-tec wrong personaly i dont care we all know what you mean you can get a motor from a rsx type r it has 20 more hp then the type s it can be bought from hmotorsonline.com with almost everything else you will need to do the swap the car will have to be converted from obd0 to obd2 your total cost will probly be around $10000 or so my buddy just put a type r in a eg has around $18000 into it but in the end you will have an allmotor 4 banger capable of running 12s.

This swap falls deeply into the catagory "If you have to ask..."

Pretty much everything has to be replaced with very expensive aftermarket toys.

do a b series vtec swap. easier and cheaper to do into a crx. can be built to handle whatever you want to throw at it.

It's a big difference, the LS1 pretty much bolts in to the 3G Camaro/Firebird body with factory parts, that chassis was made for a smallblock and the TPI electricals aren't bad. K-series engines are much larger then the original D-series engines, much more complicated control systems, and even spin the opposite way... the exhaust manifold is on the firewall side of the engine. If you really want to get into it, check HASport.com. The complete mounting set is going to run around $2k plus your choice of controlling electronics. The engine and trans set pulls around $4k plus shipping costs.

If you simply want VTEC, you can install a 125hp single cam VTEC D16Z6 for under a grand, B series engines for a bit more, and even H-series Prelude swaps are still cheaper then K's.

Coincidentally, I have a 4th gen Trans am but started out with my crx with a b16a swap. After driving both cars, I get a sense of being nimble and light in my crx, but with my T/A, I get ALOT of low end torque and that rwd fun. b16s love to rev, and rev high(8K rpms), so it's still fun to drive my crx. I bet with a few more mods though(headwork, cams, tuning) I can smoke my T/A.
Pricewise, the b16a swap will set you back around 2k if you do it yourself (1500 for the motor, tranny, ecu, etc.; 300 for the mounts,+shipping). Get it from www.hmotorsonline.com

[QUOTE=judgeDredd;3155128]people here really hate it when you spell v-tec wrong [QUOTE]

if people are truely anal about how VTEC is spelled... it's VTEC, not V-TEC, or VTECH, or VETECH... i don't care myself, but i see a lot of people flaming other people for saying vtech, and call it v-tec.
