ZC Engine
I just bought a ZC engine it has ZC stamped on it but I was told its just the ZC block with a Civic SI head. How do I find out what head I have on it? and if it is the Civic SI head any clue what kind of power I will get from it? I heard theres 2 versions of the engine one SOHC and one DOHC well is the block the same?

there are several different versions of the JDM ZC, all 1.6L and have ZC stamped on the block - there are SOHC non-VTEC, SOHC VTEC and DOHC and there are OBD0 and OBD1 versions - the SOHC and DOHC blocks are not the same - the only head that fits the DOHC ZC block is the DOHC head - the SOHC non-VTEC OBD0 ZC is basically the same as the USDM Si D16A6, but has a different camshaft - it is 118hp - if it was a fuel injected engine, the head casting itself is the same as the Si and DX - there are carbed SOHC ZCs which have a different head

With the ZC engine could I put on a D16 SOHC vtec head? I was told by the person and confirmed by another person who has nothing to do with the sale that this was in fact a Civic SI Head. I read that the 95 SI's were sohc, its hard just starting into Honda Tuning, so any info you could give would be greatly appreciated. How can I tell if it is this head or just the ZC head? If it is just the ZC head and I can put on the SI Head to make it vtec what else would I need other then the Head itself and the ECU?

If its the SOHC ZC then yes, you can put a SOHC VTEC D series head on it... The procedure would be the same as a D16A6 (88-91 Civic/CRX Si engine)...
But why didnt you just buy a complete SOHC VTEC engine?
BTW the engine code of the 92-95 Civic Si is D16Z6... This is the head you want to swap onto that block... You can also use a D15B VTEC head, or a D16Y8 (96-00 Civic EX) head...

I didnt buy the Sohc Vtec off the back because this engine had only 60k miles on it and I was given it for only 200 bucks(the guy just bought a LS motor and wants to make it a LS Vtec), plus the guy told me it would fit straight into my crx with the stock motor mounts and everything, he had it in a 93 Civic. Other then the Head what else would I need to do the Vtec Conversion I know the Head the ECU, will I need things like the fuel rail and intake manifold?

So there is no difference between a SOHC ZC block and a D16A6 block?
(I looked a little and couldn't find the answer I'm looking for, so I thought I'd ask here since it seems 'on topic')
