hmm. buy it, stick in in your car, will be a good learning experience....

IMO: Buy a B16A (good starter motor), get all type R internals, cams, the works.

10 second street car, its possible, but it would be better if it were RWD and not FWD....

Im not you, and I am not sure how attatched you are to that civic, but I would sell the hatch, and the motor, to someone who wants to do the swap, and buy a RWD car.

10's are easily. With FWD it comes down to suspension setup. I'm running OmniPower Drag Coilovers with traction bars in the front, the same setup my buddy is running on his 10.4 second LSVTEC EG.

If you can get the swap that cheap, may as well. If it's not the K20A2 Type S, I wouldn't even bother. The K20A3 is a lame duck with no aftermarket support.

The EF chassis and deep pockets rarely go together, especially for someone that asks for advice on an internet forum.

the 84-85 GSL-SE was the highlight of the FB's. Too bad they still had a solid rear axle and the computer/intake system sucked. :happysad:

In an EF chassis, you feel the weight. It's several hundred pounds heavier than a stock D-Series. A couple hundred pounds added to a car that weighs barely over 2000 pounds, that's almost a 10% weight gain, and it's all up front.

You'll feel it.
i though someone weighed out everything and the h22 was only 35 lbs heavier than a D

motors:
H22 = 123lb short block
B16 = 104lb short block
D = 100lb short block + oil pan

trans:
H22 trans = 96lb
B16 trans = 90lb

it still is a considerably higher weight to place over the front, but once you eliminate all the extras which usually get in the way of this kind of swap (such as the A/C) i'd imgaine that it comes out to be about the same weight.

i'd still rather have a k20/24 hybrid tho

the b-series is your best bet. for someone like you i'd imagine the best idea would be to pick a swap that is simple and has been done before, once you gain more knowledge you migth eventually want to move onto something more exotic, but i feel that sticking a b18 or a b20 in there would greatly improve your performance as well as the grin on your face.

personally i would try and find a GSR motor (labeled b18c1 in the US or if it is a JDM counterpart it will be labeled b18C and have an advertised output around 180hp)

the increase in torque out of any of the raised deck b-series should be enough to make you happy for now, and the b series has alot of potential for future goals. (these engines i am refering to are the b18 and b20 derivitives excluding the b20a)
