transmission shifter forks
i am trying to find someone that makes steel shifter forks for a 87 crx si. i have broken 2 in the past year. the oe ones are made from some kind of pot metal and i am looking for something stronger.

WTF are you running in your 87 CRX? I BIg Block Chevy? I have never heard of those things breaking 2 in one year. HOLY CRAP. THe best thing I can say is to take an OE shifter fork to a CNC place and have them CNC you a copy out of a piece of metal, It will cost you though.

Sounds to me you need to replace it again, and change your driving(shifting) ways. I broke one in my 91 crx si, but it was because of a stupid redlined shift. I was trying to keep the tires smoking while changing into second. It did'nt work out to well. But to answer your question, i have no idea if you can get a better one. Like posted above, i'm sure somebody could make one that won't break for lots of $$$$$$$$.

Replace the transmission. If you broke two shift forks, something is seriously wrong inside your trans case. Broken shift forks are rare for 85-87 Si's and changing the material it is made from will not help at all.

this has happened in two different transmissions. i dont actually drive the car. the car is a road racer so i am sure the shifts are hard. the guy that drives the car has been racing crx's for over 15 years so i really dont think it is his driving but if it is his shifting i am sure he would say it is not. the bad part is that of the 3 forks they only make 2 new for some reason. if it comes down to it i can have them made but i was trying to find if someone actually made them. i am thinking it is just fatigue of the forks because of age but have never had it happen untill this past year

As far as I know, stock replacement is the only option. :happysad:
