so, i need a synchronizer for my tranny... (pic of car w/rims in post too)
a while back i posted on here that i had a new clutch and 'used' tranny put in my 91 HF... well now I guess I need a synchronizer, we have a Honda Specialist shop up the road and that is what he said, I told him the first symptom of harsh gear changes, some grinding, and he said 'synch'... then I said I have to shut the car off and then put it into first, since that is the only way it will line up and go in easy.
Im just kind of ranting. My engine has 201k on it, burns very minimal oil but still burns it, and I was wondering what my cheapest options were. Mechanic said the synchs cost like $30 each and there are half a dozen in there to probably replace even if only one or two are shot.
I'd LOVE to find an Si engine/tranny combo but Im up in friggin Maine and $ is tight and my crx is one of ... two on the road up here.
/rant I love my car, too bad I just put rims on it as well, if I knew this project was going to cost, I never would have.
here is a picture of it, if anyone cares lol

i'd take them over the stock 13" wheels
as far as the engines go, you can order a ZC for cheap or even a b-series from www.hmotorsonline.com

It doesnt do it all the time, the tough shifts... just some of the time.
About the rims: I love them, so your opinion has 'gone in one ear and out the other'...
and the door panel piece, thank you, I need to get that replaced.
keep the comments and suggestions coming. Im an audio person who has FINALLY been bitten by the performance bug, the low budget performance bug

Yeah, syncros are cheap, getting them put in is not cheap. I'd have the transmission inspected for wear and have everything worn out replaced. You don't want to go back in there in 10k miles when you could spend a little more on parts when the trans has been taken apart anyways.

I have the same problem, I have to almost shut the car off to get it to go in reverse, well smoothly that is. I have a whole thing that shows how to replace the synchros in an engine, so I was thinking about doing it, I am jsut not sure if I put Carbon coated synchros in it, if everything will be 100 percent better. If my car had a good smooth ass tranny, it would run so much harder, instead of having to wait to shift and stuff.
