roughly how much are we talking about to replace these synchro's? im absolutely not a gearhead so doing it myself is out of the question. I also couldnt find any Synchromesh ANYWHERE here. The honda tech said to look for a different tranny and just scrap the one I have...

thx for the replies guys, i learn something every time I come here

and...... now i went out to start the pile of shit and it wont even do that.

i have PLENTY of battery power, i assume either the clutch cable is toast and the ignition thing doesnt recognize that im pushing it in, or the starter is gone???

one thing, when the vehicle is off i can shift it into any gear i want without the clutch in, i've never noticed that before, not that i've had to or tried to...

this thing is a pain in the butt. i have to budget fixes or repairs over weeks at a time, this is hardly a money saving machine. whats it cost for a motor swap? lol... even to a 91 Si engine would be pretty neat. i assume more than I want to know.

ironically I just ran across a site that sells synchro and bearing kits. http://www.drivetrain.com/hondamaualtransmission.html
Of course that does you no good since you can't do the repairs yourself. Your best bet is to find a good used tranny. But by the sounds of it this may be a good time to consider a swap/new motor.

yes, goat, unfortunately i really am strapped for money. the stereo shows and speakers and amps will be there in the future. they do no good without a reliable vehicle. Its time to take a deep deep breath and figure things out.

i really want to know what a used Si engine/tranny combo can be had for. I dont want an HF unless I have to, but whatever I guess... Labor is going to kill me.
