will '92 springs fit on a '91
i have an uncle that got some lowering springs, amongst some other things, off a wrecked '92 civic (not totaly sure of the year but its that body type) i dont know what brand the springs are (seeing as i havent seen them yet) but i wanted to know if they would fit on my 91 civic hatch. now im going to be gettin these for free so im not to worried about them being perfect..anywayz if anyone knows a reason why these wont fit please give me some feedback.

My guess would be no, but once you get them off and see what band they are, do some research and look for part numbers.
That is what i did to figure out an answer to your question. Take and look up some different brands of springs and compare parts numbers to see what will interchange between the Civic generations.

They'll work/fit. Only difference between the 91 and 92-00 in that area is the diameter of the sleeve in the front shock forks(92-00 is fatter than 91), and the brake line mounts on the shocks are different.
If still setup with the 92's shock assembly you'll have to swap out the front shock as it wont fit into your shock fork. Rear is straight bolt in with no difference.
I did the same thing but in reverse order...I pulled some Tokico Blues with Intrax springs off a 91 and swapped into my 96. Only thing was that instead of 2" drop it was more like 3"...so the reverse might happen...you may end up with 1.5" drop.

wrong lowering springs for a 92 -00 civic will not work on a 88-91 civic. even though the springs are lowering springs they still are taller then the 88-91 stock springs. and the reason being is the weight of the cars, the 92-00 civics need beefier springs.
I had 3.5" lowering springs off my 95 civic and when I bought my crx I took the front off and found out the lowering spring was taller than my stock crx spring.
your best bet is to find a set of lowing springs for your year of car.
or if you want to be ghetto and cheap, then get the lowing springs from a 92-00 civic and cut the springs to work on your car

Like I said the reverse might happen..which means possibly little to no lift at all. They will still fit. Doesnt hurt to try. Unsprung height doesnt tell you much. As for the weight being the reason...that doesnt really figure into it all that much either...seeing as how close those 3 generations are in weight..with some overlapping.
96-00 2200-2300lbs
92-95 2108-2231lbs
88-91 2158-2255(Rex's between 1713(hf)-2174(91 Si)

here is a picture of my new springs on my integra. as you can see the lowering spring is smaller than the stock one, and that spring is only 1.5" drop, big difference in height

k.. like i said before im not paying anything for these springs so, if i put them on and they only drop me an inch well then i can live with that, and if there to tall then what the hell i might cut them down a bit, like i said...free, if cuting them makes them ride like shit well i still have my stock springs and coilovers (sleeves) so i dunno i'll see what i can do when i get them, and by the way thanx for all the input u all gave

How about instead of rushing to lower you car, sell those "free" lowering springs and save up for springs that fit your car and do it right the first time around.
