Default Technical question

Here is a technical question for someone with a book. What is the measurment between the piston ring and cylinder wall supposed to be? I have the head off (replacing the head gasket), and I thought I should measure it and see if it is within spec. It did like to smoke sometimes.

This is for a '91 D16A6.

thanks

That is only when it is hot. When it is cold, the rings are smaller because they need room to expand when they heat up. What I want to know is the distance before the rings expand.
