Default Do I need this for my rear shock setup?

I'm putting a rear suspension together with Tokico Illuminas & Tein S-Techs. I was looking at a pic of the stock susp. and noticed a piece that I don't have. Part #18 in the picture is called a "RUBBER, REAR SPRING SEAT (LOWER)". Will this be needed for my setup? I'm guessing that the spring is supposed to sit on it?

Also, does anyone put boots back on over the shocks?

I just reused the existing RUBBER, REAR SPRING SEAT (LOWER). It's just a thin piece of rubber that sits between the spring and the shock's spring perch. You could just use a strip of used inner tube cut to fit in its place.

It's a good idea to reuse the boots too. (keeps grit and muck from killing the shock's seal prematurely.) If you don't like the stock ones, order the rubber accordian style boots.

yea u can use some other rubber u find, it is to make it so that it is a smoother ride, and the springs doesnt squek and scratch on the shock where it sits.

OK, so does that mean that I should have used this #11 piece in this picture for the front shock? I didn't have one on the fronts that I ripped out of the car and didn't realize there was one there originally. Now everything is rebuilt and put back together - minus part #11! :squint:

Has anyone found an aftermarket boot that will fit a Tokico shock?

Cool, thanks.

While I'm on the subject of shocks, has anyone put the Tokico Illuminas on without cutting the bump stops? I wasn't sure if I had to cut them down or not. I'm using Tein S-Tech lowering springs with them. They should lower approx. 1.5" so I'm assuming I would lose that much travel in the stroke of the shock?
