Cut off the roof with a saws-all. Peice of cake. :chuckles:

Gut the hatch, ditch the spare and jack, pull the A/C. That's about it for easy.

If its stamped 'B18C5', its not JDM (J spec engines dont have a last digit on the engine code)... And pretty much like Kai said, gut it, remove A/C, and thats about it... You can get crazy with it, and remove the rear hatch wiper, and any other lighter components like that... But when it comes too all that and your just trying to save 5 or 10 lbs here, you might as well just go on a diet... But with a B18, you shouldnt have any problems getting up and going...

Ah ok... Just making sure u didnt get ripped... Theres a 5HP difference between the J spec R and the USDM B18C5 (slight bump in compression from 10.6 to 11.1), and the JDM version sells for much more (about $500 more)... But it should be rated at 200HP then... The C5 is 195HP... And the JDM GSR version of the B18C is 180HP... I know it can be confusing, they probably should have put a last digit to help the confusion... But the spec Rs will come stock with a red valve cover...

K, that sounds right... So no, u didnt get ripped...

Sorry didnt mean to confuse you... Ill try and brake it down tho, in Japan and in the US, both the GSR and the Type R engines are B18Cs, in the US they are stamped B18C1 (GSR 170HP) and B18C5 (Type R 195HP)... These 2 are easy enough to tell apart since they are marked...

But in Japan there are also 2 of these engines, the problem is they are both stamped 'B18C', but the Spec R also known as the Type R, has 200HP and a red valve cover (but this can be faked by painting it), and the GSR version, which has 180HP... So you have the last one... There are probably other ways to tell, for instance the GSR in the US has the dual stage intake manifold, so I assume it has this in Japan aswell... But I dont know for sure...

Your stereo and seat probably arent 100lbs. I weighed my A/C when I pulled it (compressor, condenser, evaporator, lines, hoses, brackets, all that crap) and it totalled 38 lbs. But 40lbs off the nose of the car will help. Another thing to consider is a lightweight racing battery. Kinda pricey, but they make batteries that weigh as little as 8 lbs, as compared to 25 or whatever the stock on weighs. Aside from that, just pull out anything that isn't holding the car together. :dunno: I gutted my car, but put the cupholders back in h:
