Default Just Did B16a Swap

I just put a B16a Si R into my 1991 CRX si. I put on AEM cold Air intake, DC header, Skunk2 Stage1 Cam and Cam gears, Skunk2 Valve set, Skunk2 Valve Springs, Unorthodox Pulley's, and ACT clutch and flywheel. This all sounds great right? Well here is my problem: The bottom end of this motor SUCKS. And Vtec is kicking in at like 5800 rpm. Does anyone out there know what I can do to get more out of the bottome end of the motor and maybe make that Vtec kick in a little quicker? Anyone who has any ideas on this, PLEASE HELP!

You got a B16 so you won't get any bottom end. You can get a VTEC Controller (VAFC) to adjust your VTEC though. Remember a B16 is a top end motor and a B18 is a bottom end motor.

Cant help much with the bottom end but if you get a Fields VTEC Controller, you can set the VTEC engaugement to any RPMs.

What do you expect? A B16 has no balls until you take it into high rpms.

First gen SiR motor should be hitting VTEC at 5000 rpms

And yeah, it's not fast low end, don't be afraid to push the pedal a lot to get it to go low end.

My b16 kicks in at 5800 as well. It's basically a dual cam Z6, it's not going to have good low end unless you bore it, raise the compression or go forced induction.

Uhh, it's a totally different engine than a Z6.

I am running OBD1 ECU that came with the motor. I have ordered a Mugen chipped ECU that is supposed to help with the Vtec Issue. Also, Is this a good motor setup? Racing, I cannot seem to beat anything except a stock CRX. Driving is not the issue, so what can I do to the motor that I haven't already?

Wierd, vtec engages at 5k rpms on my b16a... I've beaten plenty of cars besides crxs. CRXs are light and don't need much power to get them fast, so I would say there's either something wrong with your engine, or something wrong with the driver, but since u say driver is not the issue, then fix your vtec crossover point. That extra 800 rpms doesn't seem like much, but it is...
