Default d16y7???

just wondering if anybody knows anything about this motor??? swapping intake manifolds, z6 or y8 head, header, etc..... i know it is a d series motor and that it is not an ideal motor for a tuner but i already got burned going over the internet and i seen this motor where i live so no worries on this deal.... what would it take to drop this motor into my hf crx and what ecu would i use??? thanks for the help....

Swapping a y8 or z6 head onto a y7 block is known as a mini-me swap. Search mini-me for a shit load of info.

yea kinda thought so but just wondering if it would work... parts interchangability is really where i am stuck... i have an intake manifold off of a d16a1 first gen integra motor and a dc header off of my hf motor and was wondering if that would work on the d16y7???

the header will work - the D16A1 intake manifold will not fit - use a D16A6 88-91 Si intake manifold, injectors, HF distributor and Si ECU

i have seen people use a Si distributor also. using the D16a6 intake mani, inj, fuel rail and dist. and ecu, you will have something close to the stock A6 but with a little bigger valves. The one weak point of the Y7 is the cam. You can pick up a nice upgrade without shelling out alot of cash from exospeed.

Wouldnt be worth it unless u did do a mini me (its only 106HP without it, the D16A6 is 108HP and is MUCH easier to swap!)... In which case its a 1.6 block, so it should be a better combo than most with a 1.5 block and VTEC head... But I highly reccomend you convert to OBD1...

Here is a write up specific to the D16Y7 with a Y8 VTEC head...
