But the absolute bottom line is, a perfectly running engine, is not worth trading for one that is known to have problems... Specially since he already has so much into his current engine...

You can make a 500 Horsepower B16a. Can you make a 500 horsepower D16z6?

Yea, but it wouldnt be easy or cheap (for either)... I personally wouldnt know exactly how and what mods (mainly because I would never want or need 500HP)... But Ive heard of a few (very very few) D16s in that range... Rare, but its possible... But your talking hypotethically highly modded here, which this engine is not... The guy is asking if a straight up swap his running (already modded) engine for a known bad (probably stock) B16A is worth it, in my eyes, it is not... We've both shared our opinions on the matter, as have others, its now upto him to make a decision...

In the case of straight up swap, ur not planning on doing anything to the B16a, I would also say stick with the D series. I am not a fan of the D but, if you are not planning on modding anymore just stick with the D.

Keep the d16. B16a engines are fast out the box, and I love mine to death, but if it failed a leakdown test, forget it. Think about it, why would he trade a b16a for a d16z6? because it's a crap b16a.
