DX to Si
Hi everyone, just wanted your opinion. I have an auto DX, 91 HB. I wanted to get in converted to an SI stick. The guy I talked to said it would cost ballpark price is $2200 with everything. Car running and everything. I'm looking to change my car to stick, but don't want to spend too much. Another thing is that I live in SO CAL, so the emissions and all that have to be good. Do you think it's worth it? Should I just get a D16Z6 better for a little more? Anyone is So Cal have had problems if/when they got a B16A? What about a B16A1?

Honestly, you can sell your car and buy an Si with a D16Z6 swapped in it for cheaper then paying for all the swap work. You can find anything in SoCal, trust me.

Hey man if i was you i would do the d16z6 with a crx si tranny, you have to have the tranny i makes all the diffrence. I have it in my crx and i and i am running 15.3 at 88.7mph with small mods. the swap is reall easy to do.

Yeah, just sell your car and get another one with the engine you want, it would be cheaper than that prob. If it was a stick I would say engine swap but auto to manual conversions are a pain.

That is stupid!
For that price you can sell you car and find something with a 5spd.
Also you don't need to nessesarily have to get an Si for it to be 5spd, they do make Dx 5 spds as well.

I've too soo much money on this car that I would hate to see it all go for much less then what I've paid. And it's not stupid. Damn, I was asking for opinions on motors, not if to sell the car. I thought about it already, but thanks for nothing.

what there trying to warn you about is the hassle of converting. there not trying to burn you. it would be better if you just bought a car with a manual. its hard to just let the car go after you put so much into it i know. but trust me manual conversion is no easy task. but remember its your money. you if your going to do it and want more power right away go with the b16a1 you'll be happy.

See, I'm not doing the conversion. A guy I know that's been doing this for over 10 years is going to do it all. Believe me, he knows what he's doing. And I honestly don't want to go threw the hassle of getting a new/used car for that. I'm planning to get a Mitsu Galant later on.

We are not questioning the ability of your guy to do it, i question costs.
You would rather go thru the hassle of shelling out $2200 for a auto to manual conversion instead of selling your car and getting a car that already has a 5spd in it?
It makes no sense, for the money you are going to spend on a conversion you could buy a 88-91 5spd Civic or Crx.
Why not sell your car and add the money that you would waste on the conversion and buy a 5spd.!
