Matters what you want to do with it. B series will give you a more overall top end power but the d series is no slouch. As long as its the right d series motor.

b-series have more power potential but parts for d series are alittle cheaper, one cam, cam gear you know.

I know I have seen this quote before but I can't remember who it is from:

"The most work that should ever be done on a D-Series is taking it out."

Id agree unless that D series is a D16a2... Best D series ever, same RS ratio as a ferarri with great combustion chamber shapes, and steel main caps, and simpler timing dynamics over a dual cam.

Yeah, simpler and harder to tune. B series VTEC is the best engine if you can afford it period.

D series is the economy motor, the B series is the motor more geared towards racing and performance.

My buddy had a D16 from my 96 ex with a T3/T4 @ 11 psi and it hauled ass! He was running low 13's until he blew it up after his water pump died. So now hes got a B18 from a 93 GSR whoaaa big difference. Yeah the D series was cheaper to build but I admit the dohc has alot of torque in comparison. So D series if ya on a budget. I gave him my old motor and I'm sure you could pick one up for hardly nothing.:hsdunno:

Both engines have there pros and cons.
D-series are MUCH cheaper to build, and can have a good power range(i've heard up to 300hp, turbo, of course).
B-series engines are more expensive, but are fast out the box, and can reach an insanely high amound of hp. Plus, they have a plethora of aftermarket parts to work with. Some d-series engines (like the zc) are gonna be harder to find aftermarket parts for.
