Default car wont start unless i crank it 5,6 times

like the title says, when i go to start my car it'll crank but it wont turn over... this has never happened before to my car it just did it like two days ago, i had to turn the key all the way to the off position then try to start it and it still wouldnt start, so i let it sit for like 5-10 minutes then it started up... my friends hatch does the same thing but he has an ls swap and his does this everyday... any help is greatly appreciated.

Either electrical or fuel. Check your battery first. It doesn't sound like a spark plug or wire issue, although it could be your distributor rotor or cap. If those check out, then check the fuel circuit. Listen to hear if your fuel pump turns on, and make sure your check engine light comes on and turns off after a few seconds. Also, check if your ecu is throwing codes.
If those things check out, then your main relay could be bad. My car used to do that. It would crank FOREVER, but it wouldn't start. However, if I let it sit for about five mins or so, it would mysteriously start right up. If it is the relay, it only cost about $50 or so at Honda.

The Main Relay, let the fuel go to the engine. Without it you have nothing. My Suggestion ist aht you do a Saprk Test on all your wires. They have a small tester tool at the auto parts store for around 10.00, you plug it into the wire, ground it, and watch the spark. After that, depending on the last time you did a tune up, I would Change the rotor, cap, wires, and plugs. Then Listen when you turn on ur car if u hear a small "eeeeee" sound, that is the fuel pump priming the car for start up. If you don't hear that, tehn something is wrong there. Also try starting your car and flicking the Main Relay, if it start when u flick it, it is the Relay.

thanks you guys, i checked everything and nothing was wrong until i didnt hear the fuel pump run the fuel to the engine, so i tapped the main relay and it started up so i guess thats my problem, i dont kno if it is true but i saw someone say that the weather can effect it... like if it gets really cold the main relay might not work (same with if its too hot) that might explain my problem cuz up here we've been having heat spells with some 15 degree days and nights and then out of nowhere some 65 degree days...

When was the last time you had a tuneup? Plugs, cap/rotor, air filter....etc. Don't waste your money shotgunning a problem, think about it systematically, gas vs electrical. Go from there. Keep us posted. There are some great resources on this board. Be more specific on your symptoms.

"MUSICMAN", if you didn't notice the post before my last when he said he checked it out and it was fixed. I told him how to fix it, you don't need to leave another psot for the hell of it.

REDLINE, i just checked out your link and thats a nice crx you have there, but is that primer or an actual flat black paintjob? either way it still looks nice, did you accidentally paint the corner lights or was that intentional?

Main relay is cheap. Cost me 50 bucks for a brand new one at Honda. Ppl suggest that the relay problem only occurs during hot weather, but I think it's also from real cold weather too. Glad we could help u.
