I have done the swap and the hardest part was denting a frame rail people give this swap such a bad name....in my opinion it is a sweet ass swap...I say go for it and fuck all the B series whores.

B16a1...not worth the obd work involved compared to its Jap brother^^
B18a=affordable, nice for FI
B18c=hotness, expensive (c5 very expensive) also getting into OBD work tons of mods available.
H22=hotness for 1/4 mile only (dont expect to daily drive, HEAVY motor, people will argue this but BS), expensive
LSVT=dont do without swap experience, relatively affordable, ok reliable
K series= not worth it at all, its goofy to do on this gen
If you're gonna do any D-Series, I'd do a Z6. But even then it'd be slow.
ZC's are garbage.
B16's are torqueless even in a light CRX.
B18B > B18A, B18B is probably what I would recommend for him.
B18C1 = Find one that hasn't had the shit beaten out of it and I'll give you a dollar, B18C5's aren't even close to being worth the money
H22 weighs 34 pounds more than a B18C1, tranny and all. It'd be amazing if somebody actually got over this misconception.
LS/VTEC is perfectably reliable if machined and tuned correctly
K20A is completely worth it, it'd be a 12-second car out of the bag, but you're looking at at least $5,000.

LSVTEC is crap. no matter how u machine and tune it. eventually u will get a rod right through ur cylinder wall.

That may be true... But the 4th gen Civic/2nd gen CRX chasis was not designed for a b18c1, it was designed for a much smaller D series... Add a little weight fine, add more ontop of that, u have a problem... Kinda like the straw that broke the camels back so to speak... Is an H22 'too heavy'? Maybe not, if your going for an all out drag car... But if you want to maintain every day drivability, with decent cornering, without spending alot of cash in suspension mods, it is...

Id say best swap is a B18C1 or C5... Ill eventually swap one of those someday...
