Default Another Main Relay/Fuel Injector Relay post...

1991 Civic STD with 1.5DX engine & tranny plant. Worked fine for the most part. Had the occasional hard-start on hot days when the main relay contacts were bad, but nothing major up until I blew my head gasket a couple months ago. Fixed that & now my main relay went bad or something.

Alright guys, I know, I know... solder the main relay contacts... did it & it didn't work... So I got another main relay.. did that, same problem.

Okay, here's the situation I haven't found anywhere else online... my main relay isn't just 'not working'. It makes a "buzzing" noise when i turn the ignition on instead of just "clicking" on & staying on... how do I fix it? It sounds like this is turning the fuel injectors and pump on & off very quickly. Can I just hotwire this someway and bypass the relay? I haven't driven my civic in two months, and it's getting old! Please help. THANK YOU!

I'm probably not going to be much help. If you put in a new main relay, and it's bad again, it seems you may have a short or something causing the relay to go bad.

i think i'm having the same problem.

mine will start sometimes, but the car has to be exactly in the right temperature range (not too hot, kind of cold).

It won't get any power unless I use jumper cables either. (I know you guys' will probably say bad battery or connections, but I have replaced everything involved in that already.)

and I used to short out a fuse. the yellow-one "boxy" one.

Alright guys.. With the old relay it "buzzed" and i had no spark... just checked w/the new relay & I at least have spark, but it's still buzzing, so one of the relays in there isn't working right or it's getting a bad signal?
Any help would be great. Thanks

just curious, what you're describing is the same thing mine is doing. Does your car lose power (does it have power to begin with?)

Currently when I switch the ignition to "on", my Main Relay will make a "buzzing" noise (which it is not supposed to). When I try to start the engine, I am getting spark, but the engine does not fire, so I assume the "buzzing" is the fuel-pump/injector part of the relay turning on & off very quickly, thus inhibiting fuel delivery.

Tonight I was going to use my main relay on a friend's working car, but I didn't have enough time & he couldn't find the relay... hopefully I can try this in a couple days & rule wether it is a bad relay or if something else is causing this malfunction.
