Another Main Relay/Fuel Injector Relay post...

My relay was going bad so I just replaced it. The new one clicks, then buzzes, then clicks again and the CEL goes away. Does your relay do that? Also, check your ECU for any codes, maybe it's a bad injector:dunno:?

sounds like the relay is working. but there is a short somewhere...
do you know the history of the car??
Was there an aftermarket stereo installed?? usually you can find a short in that situation..or behind the head unit is a likely place for many shorts.
One time my left speaker fell off its mount and the speaker contacts were touching the metal inside the door causing my speedometer to jump around from 0-90 mph while i was in park..
Another time i was messing around with my yellow hazzard light trying to wire them to a switch and the setup just cause all my electronics to go hay wire...
But just be carefull with the electronics, and disconect your battery when making adjustments... I heard of stereo installers accidently tripping the airbag. dont know if thats a true story though..
If the electronics are stock, you also might want to look where moisture has gotten in the car... if you cant find that, your last resort would be to have it diagnosed then do the repair or have them do the repair... or just get a new wire harness,,
The new wire harness is a little extreme, but if you cant find the short its in the harness, somewhere in the spagetti.
Also check the engine compartment. if you made any mods you may had to unplug or move wires around...
Its definately a short...

UPDATE: So, I looked for a short, spliced wires grounding out or something like that & found nothing. What I DID find out is when I disconnect one of my injectors from the harness, my Main Relay stops "buzzing" and my ECU light turns off. With it plugged in, I get one spark from each plug, then I guess the ECU kicks out an error and stops ignition. Any clues?

Check your ecu's blinking led light. If it flashes code 16, then you have a fault in your fuel system. Either injectors, fuel pump, or any wires/grounds that go to the system. You may have a short in the wires leading to the injector you took off.

UPDATE::: 9/27.. got the car running, but it surges between 1500rpm & 2000 rpm. Power also dies around 3100rpm & tach jumps up & down like it is having an electrical spasm (I still think it is the main relay or possibly the injectors). Anyhow, now I need to figure out how to tighten the timing belt tensioner.

If the car jerks violently back and forth, check your fuel injectors, especially if it's still throwing code 16. My rex was doing the same thing before I swapped the engine, now nothing, so I know it wasn't electrical.
