Just make sure you get a '90-91 Civic/CRX 5 speed tranny and it's an unbolt/rebolt job. If you get a different year tranny, you may have to change clutches to match up to the transmission.

I have a shop loosen up things for me so I don't go screwing up my tools and knuckles or stripping bolts. I tried to do my own trans but it was a ***** since I didn't have a helms manual. The manual is the key to all repairs and from what everyone says you shouldn't work on your car without it. Try and get an si trans I had a dx trans on my si and it was not the same si trans feels better. If your the type that likes to diy then get a couple friends and get to work but if you have no idea at all seek professional help.

I would probably wait till you have all the cash you need to get what you want especially if its your only car. I'm not sure about the gearing in the std trans but I would just bear with it for now. I wish I was in cali it seems you guys have a million choices for swap shops and rust free junkyards and nice streets to ride on. Now if your having trans problems I would say go for it now but your lack of speed is not entirely the transmissions fault its the 70 hp so search around and also check www.thepartstrader.com and see if you find any deals in your area. YOu might just find a wicked deal and meet someone that can help do your swap and save you alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
