hand brakes and flywheels

hand brakes and flywheels
Okay
My hand brake is very useful, but I hate holding the button in.
Anyway, are there systems to defeat that locking button without having to totally remove it? (I want to be able to still set it when parking)
AND
How heavy is the stock Flywheel? I'm looking at 2 aftermarket ones (13lbs and 8lbs). What brand should I go with and what are the dangers of running these light flywheels?
Unrelated, but who makes a good clutch kit, I need more than stock but none of that stage 3 1000hp crap.
Thanks!
Tom

Re: hand brakes and flywheels
stock D-series flywheel is anywhere between 15 and 17 pounds. A 13 pound flywheel would yield you a slight increase in power with no drivability decrease, a 10 or 11 pound flywheel would yield a more noticable power gain, but you'd have to re-learn how to drive your car, becuz the engine would be much more prone to stalling off the line.

Thanks for the imput, how would the 8lb aluminum flywheel stack up? Any one brand better than the others?
Also, does anyone use those poly bushings? I'd like to get an opinion on them, I hear they are great for response but make the car very harsh to drive, is that true?

I have Poly bushings on some parts of my car. They make things a little stiffer but it's not horrible, with your car lowered anyway you would probably never notice. Just grease them up before you put them on.

My car isn't lowered. I just wanted to make sure the poly bushings aren't going to ruin the feel of the car.. I think the steering rack is sluggish so bushings should fix that right?
Also, anyone have a clue on my handbrake question?
Thanks,
Tom

Only way to change the way your handbrake operates is to take it apart and re-work the hinge points with some fabrication work.
As for the poly bushings, I'm at stock ride height, you feel the road more [slightly bumpier, slightly more road noise], but the precise control feel you get far outweighs either of those possible downsides.
