Default b16a CRX question

I just picked up an 88 crx hf, shitty ass motor and im about to get it swapped. Wondering if I should get the 88-91 jdm, or the 92-95 jdm. Is the hydro trans worth it. Anyone know of possible problems with this swap? Thanks.

Well, the B16A 1st gen (88-91) is cable and OBD0, will swap right in with few modifications, mounts, axles, shift linkage, ect, and little wiring...

The 2nd gen (92-95) is hydraulic (as u said), and no, unless its LSD (which the gen 1 has LSD on some models as well) there is no real benefit of trying to convert to hydro... The 2nd gen is also OBD1, which means alot of wiring, or a conversion harness would be required...

If you wanna go B16A, get the first gen, its honestly not worth the hassle to swap in the 2nd gen over the 1st gen... I think its only like a 10 HP difference...

Theres also the USDM B16A3 (found in Del Sol VTECs) and USDM B16A2 (found in 99-00 Civic Si's), but these also fall in the 2nd gen category, theres not too much more potential there, except a slight HP in crease, and a chance of getting a newer less worn in engine...

Honestly for the trouble to switch to hydro and OBD1, Id just get a GSR (B18C1) engine...
