Default 91 CRX si, The REAL Zoom Zoom!...

Just picked up a 91 CRX si with 222k miles on it. It still runs great but I want to know my options when it is time to replace the motor and tranny. Which motors will swap out the best? B18 block with a b16 head? Should I just put in another stock motor? I don't want to boost any of my engines. I like Natural aspiration. I was also thinking about a full B18. Btw, I LOVE this car. It is the absolute most fun I have ever had in a car. I get looks everywhere I go. It's AWESOME!! I love feedback, please give me your opinions on engines and tranny setups..Thanks in advance

I know you're new here, but this is a question we get just about every other day from someone else. You need to decide what your long term plans are and than build toward your goal. You can get the most bang for your buck with your car by going with a B16A. I did that particular swap myself and I have zero regrets. If you still want a VTEC motor any bigger than that, it will cost you a significant amount more. Not only does the B16A have the best value, but it also slides right in to your chassis.

i drove a g2 GSR for the first time today.

after this, i'd personally advise against a b16 or b17.. i had read that a lot of people said that they lacked severely in the torque department, and boy were they right!

i'd go with a b18a/b. or a sohc vtec motor like i did. d16z6. cheap and a nice upgrade from the stock si motor.

Hey guys,

I appreciate your patience with the questions that I asked. I know that tons of people like me ask these questions on a daily basis. I appreciate your feedback. I just took some pictures of the car. What do you guys think? The car has 223,000 miles in it but it drives PERFECTLY! Man, I am sooo stoked. The guy I bought it from obviously didn't know what he had when he sold it to me. I will plan on putting in a b16a engine. I think I can get it done for about $4,000 installed. The hood has been replaced cause the previous owner hit a deer or something like that. The deer only sat up on the hood. It also slightly damaged the radiator so he replaced that too. No structural damage though. I think I am going to go with a 2 tone color once I paint it. Black on the top and front and keep the green on the sides. I think it will look sweet as hell! :rick: Anyway, check out the pictures...

Awsomely clean car.

Keep it stock green and throw a b18b(94-01 Integra) or a DOHC Zc. With some minor bolt ons, quicker than the stock motor and still just as fun to drive.

This is the last yr of the Crx and they are getting harder and harder to find in as nice as shape as this, and that are not hacked up!!!
