brakes will interchange between 4th and 5th gen, but suspension will not.

4th gen uses strut rod front ends, 5th gen does not.

sorry bout the delay.

Basically, the 88-91 civic/crx suspension uses a radius rod to keep the front suspension perpendicular to the ground. If you look just ahead of the front wheel on a 88-91 civic/crx, you'll see there's a rod that connects the control arm to the front crossmember. That's the radius rod, also called a strut rod.

The 92+ civics don't have those. I don't know exactly what type of suspension they use, to be quite honest with you, but there's no radius rods. It's probably a MacPherson Strut system, where the shock absorber also acts as a structural member, holding the control arm perpendicular. That shock/structural member is called a Strut. Hence the name, MacPherson Strut suspension.

But one way or another, you can't swap a 92+ front suspension onto a 88-91 civic/crx. I'll try and find pictures to post, to give you an idea of the parts I'm talking about.

my brother has 92 front struts on his 90 si the body of the strut seems bigger as is the fork part. I'm trying to figure out if there is a height difference or better damping or any other ride quality differences.
