Default Hondabond and the valve cover gasket

So, my valve cover is leaking a little. When using Hondabond, I found a place on line, where the dude used hondabond only on the corners of the gasket (where it is not flat).

Should I Hondabond the whole gasket or the corners only?

I have an '88 CRX Si 1.6.

Thanks.

The Hondabond, or any silicone sealant for that matter, is helpful around the corners because if the valve cover gasket is going to leak, that's most likely where it will happen. As FireFastSi said, I would go ahead and get a new gasket kit while you have it apart. Always better to do it that way.

big deal, little deal, whatever it is, if you are talking about stock components, the guys over at honda are pretty darn good engineers. just do things the way they intended.

Hondabond is not needed on that gasket. Buy a new gasket and it will be fine.

Ur suppose to put hondabond on the corners, b/c like stated above that is where is most likely to leak. If i was you i would just use like Black rtv b/c Hondabond will cost u about 40-50 bucks. Make sure u get a ne VC gasket too.

On single cam covers like that, it's not really an issue... we use it because we have it. It's more of a problem on dual cam covers where there are two sharp corners together between the cams, or when reusing an older gasket.
