Default DPFI-MPFI - No Reverse Lights!

I have a 1990 Civic Sedan that I swapped the DPFI for a MPFI and now have one electrical glitch: I have no reverse lights. The switch seems to be wired incorrectly because if you shut off the car while in reverse, it will keep running! If you shift out of reverse, the engine shuts down.

Obviously, I have something in the wrong place at the ECU, but what?

Bust out the ETM and recheck your work. It shouldn't take long.

I don't know what ETM is an acronym for, so he might not either.

Sorry, it's the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual, it's a side publication to the Factory Service Manual that is full of wiring diagrams and is the single resource you'll ever need to figure out electrical gremlins in your car. It's about 1/4 as thick as the FSM and shows every little electrical bit in the car, where it gets power and ground, what fuses it runs through, what other components share those power and ground sources, wire colors and when they are powered... it's a truely wonderful thing to have.

Truly wonderful, and probably costs more than the car did! I think I will be running new wires form the switch to the lights to bypass the ECM.

Sure, if you paid $38.99 or less for your car. ETM's go for $39, print-to-order.
