You need to thread something down the hole in the roof to the panel next to the left side of the dashboard. A thin flexible plastic dowel (1/8" dia x 36" long) would work well.

After you've threaded dowel down to dashboard:
-tape the end of the antenna wire to the end of the dowel sticking out of roof
-gently pull on the end of the dowel under the dash
-thread the antenna wire through the hole
-keep gently pulling the dowel and threading the wire until it is under the dash
-thread the antenna mast down in to the hole

leave it out, shave it, and buy an internal antenna.

Even without an antenna, you still get decent reception depending on the model of cd player you're installing. I've actually had pretty good luck with Autoloc internal antennas as well. For about 30 bucks you get the full functionality of your antenna with out waving a flagpole from the top of your car.

I don't know about all models, but I had an '89 Civic which was purchased w/o a radio from the factory. It came with a decent-looking black plastic "delete panel" over the antenna hole. I'd be looking for one of those if I wanted to go w/o an antenna. Maybe in a junkyard. Shouldn't be too expensive if you ordered it from one of the discount Honda parts dealers, either. -scott
