Default you guessed it - another starting problem

well, i was looking in the other starting problem posts, but didn't see any like my problem. at first, i started my car with no problem. i saw that my idle speed was high, adjusted it back to 700, np, and turned it back off. then i went to turn it on again, it wouldn't. it would crank and crank. then after a while i tried it again and now the lights only dim, and i can hear the starter click. and thats it. i tried jumping it to my other car, and let the battery charge(just to make sure that the battery wasn't the problem) still nothing. engine won't even crank anymore. i used a voltmeter to the starter, and all the voltage is running through it.
i'm thinking maybe bad solenoid, starter motor, alternator?
please help any ideas very much appreciated.

Your alternator is out...Its not holding enough charge...Or it could be your Distributor...Those are just some things i would check into first.
