Well, again, the early 90's models are within 1 or at most 2 thou of each other in the used car market around here. So if you're considering one, I'd say the other is worth considering too.

When you say "early 90's" I think single turbo option late-80's, early 90's body. Those sell for much cheaper then the latest, flush headlight twin-turbo option 300ZX's.

Around here, you're lucky to even see a VR4, much less to find one for under $10k. $8k above normal CRX pricing.

The 86-91 N/A RX-7 trans and the Miata five speed trans are both of the "M" type. I love my "M" trans, it's just nothing too special (esp. since I have an 87.5+ .697 5th instead of my stock .711 5th. )

$8000 for a CRX???? That's f*ing rediculous. I paid $1500 for mine in perfect running condition. The guy even threw in a bazooka sub

... How did you end up with the non-stock 5th?

Read that again. $8000 more then what a $2000 CRX sells for.

I used an N/A S5 (89-91, all .697 5th gear) transmission the last time I replaced mine. All 86's, like mine, and early 87's came stock with a .711 5th gear.

10k? Jesus Christ. That would get you a very, very nice set of wheels around here. I think we should start a "Kai Fund" here on HAN to move Kai out to California, the automotive land of milk and honey. The weather is perfect, it never snows, used cars are a dime a dozen, and our cars don't rust. Come to cupertino. Plenty 'o jobs, and most importantly, my non-starting hatchback is here and I could really use some professional help.

just turbo ur dseries and upgrade ur fuel management and it should last you a while. and if u did blow ur motor a dx or si motor is really cheap. u can prob pick one up for 50 bucks, and youll smash on b16s all day.

Yea. That turbo sounded good until i saw the prices here http://www.turbo-kits.com/crx_turbo_kits.html. 3 and 4 grand. That could easily get me a complete changeover b16a(motor mounts, a/c mount and all), installing it myself.

I've seen complete used turbo kits (BOV, IC, Fuel, etc) go for $1500-2000 for D-series. Only thing you would have to worry about is rebuilding the turbo if necessary.
