Default Is the EGR valve pluged?

My old acura legend (87, 2.5l) fail to pass aircare testing because of the high NO emission (1920ppm) at driving testing, the limit is 1916ppm. The HC and Co level are higher the average but ok. The idle testing result is perfect. Is the EGR valve got pluged? Does it easy to fix at home. All suggestion will be appreciated.

This doesn't belong here, it should be in the "other models" section. This is for pre-92 Civics and CRX's only, not Legends.

At your car's age, the EGR probably is clogged, however your problem is probably more due to an old catalytic converter or it's in need of a tune-up. Do a full tune-up and and it will probably pass for now.

That is a pretty tiny margin of failure. Try something really easy like new plugs and you should pass.

IF your Nox is high you have some things to look at. Spark advance,Cooling system and egr. You may want to advance or retard your timing accordingly that will affect you Nox reading. Also make sure your cooling system is intact , your coolant is topped up to the proper levels and your thermostat is working properly. Remember that No is usualy caused by high temperature. Find your egr valve is applicable and clean it out. u might also want to clean out the egr ports as well. Also do wut kai said...do a tune up of plugs wires and rotor.and also change you O2 sensor.that should help lower you co and hc a little bit. If you do pass but still with high co and hc...you know u may need a new cat
