Help, betsie is throwing code at me.
So i know i need a tune up and i plan on getting it done this weekend while i continue my busy schedule (i just don't have the time to learn myself right now), but betsie threw some code at me as i have just recently ripped out my carpet. Randomly my check engine light would come on but after i turned off the car and cut it back on, it would disapper for a few minutes or weeks and then return. Well it has been a bout 2 months since the last time, but now it has done it again and i am looking at the code (i get 12 continuous flashes, and a pause and then 12 continuous flashes again). well this website tells me what the flashes mean but is it applicable to my car cause iono what an ERG is... http://www.crxguru.com/tech_notes/ecu_codes_page2.htm . could someone tell me if this is serious and or how to fix it myself if possible. Oh and i just got my HAN shirt...it is sweet.

egr valve
my car used to be an hf also, the egr valve is connected to the intake manifold close to the head on the left. it sticks up pretty high and has, if i remember correctly 3 or 4 wires comming out of the top of it. you might try removing it, its 2 bolts, and cleaning it out. sometimes the carbon in the exhaust can build up and clog the egr valve. (exhaust gas release). i would try that.
