I don't think anyone did really.... but it's still pretty impressive.

I have a PDA for that kind of thing personally.

North American hatchback production was in Canada through the 4th-5th generation, AFAIK.

I think they switched to an American plant around the time the 6G came out.

Don't anybody freak out because a bunch of Canadians touched your car. :chuckles:

I think it means you might have 75hp instead of 70 :dunno:

Considering the facts:
You have an 8V motor with a 16V valve cover and a 1.6 hood or sticker.
Sounds like that Canadian had too much beer and drove into a truck leaving a hockey game. The hood and valve cover got replaced after the accident.

Now that you mention it, I was looking around a pick-n-pull here and all the sedan EFs were made in Japan, and now I know why. Do you know why only hatchbacks were made stateside of the pacific? You'd think they'd save money doing it one way or the other. Maybe hatchbacks aren't popular in Japan?

Oh, and 91_CiViC_RiDeR, if you're certain that you're in a DX and not an Si with the badge removed (you'll probably see the scarring of an Si badge if your car hasn't been painted after the badge was removed), you may well have a basic non-vtec mini-me swap, which is a DX block under an Si head, which would explain the 16-valve emblem. Remove the valve cover and see how many valves you actually have, and that should settle it.
A way to be certain if you have an Si or not is to read the VIN. I don't recall exactly how to decode it, but you shouldn't have any trouble coming up with a website that will tell you which letter indicates which model variant.

I think it was just the early stages of the move from Japan to American plants. I believe it started with Accords, then Civic hatchbacks, then slowly moved on to everything else. I think the S2k is the only Japanese manufactured Honda left stateside, but don't qoute me on that one.

Isn't the B1 the crappy 16 valve from the Standard model? Pretty much the same as the B2 except for a weaker cam and a throttle body that doesn't open all the way, IIRC.
