.... my 93 has a clutch switch... I wonder what year they started using them.

Its supposed to be considered a safety device so you dont plow someones car when starting it in first gear. I could've sworn my brothers 89 crx had it too, maybe im wrong

There are definately those rare, RARE occasions when two, manually-powered wheels are better than four.
Oh, and good work on the fix.

Strange thing about that, I think they became federally required in the 88-89 range.

My '87 Civic didn't have one, none of the 84-87's did.

In the RX-7 world, they added them in the '87 model year. My old '88 FC had one, but my '86 FC doesn't.

I wouldn't be suprised if Honda added them for the '89 model year.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad the CRX wasn't down for long. Of course now some a-hole rear-ended me and pushed the bumper all in. I got a police report but the idiot didn't have a valid insurance card. So he got a summons for that and another one for following too closely. SOB better have insurance or I'm going to snap. Evidently his card had just expired. I hope he just forgot to put the new one in the car.

Oh, and a clutch switch is a switch that is activated when you press down on the clutch pedal. It prevents the starter from operating unless the clutch pedal is depressed.
