A ghetto way to do it is to hammer a 16 mm socket on there. You'll ruin the bolt, and it'll be tough to get it out of the socket, but it'll definately get it off your tranny. >=]

When a bolt is really frozen heating it up nice and red with a torch helps loosen it up. I'd say torch it and then attack it with vise-grips again. BTW only use real VISE-GRIP brand locking pliers. Nothing else even comes close. Use the round jaw ones, not the flat jaw, you will get a better bite.

Sometimes torching the bolt and then quenching it with water helps too. The sudden temperature change often snaps free corrosion holding the bolt in place. Plus you don't burn youself taking off a hot bolt. Also, when you use the vise grips, make sure you clamp those things on TIGHT. Adjust the wrench so that you can barely squeeze it locked with all the strength in your hand. As I said before, used the curved jaw kind or even better, buy the special kind that has like a V in the one jaw and a bump in the other. These grab the stripped nut in 3 places and really let you get a lot of torque on it. Vise-Grip makes them in 3 sizes. I have the medium size which might work but there is also a bigger one.

Dude, use a pipe wrench. Grabs good; use a large one so you have a longer handle for more leverage. That's what I did and then replaced the damn bolt. Done deal.
