Aight, here's da skinny. If any of you have installed a camber kit on your 2nd gen CRX then you know the balljoint is welded to the upper control arm. I need to find some upper control arms that are geometrically the same as my '89 and can pop off the ball joints to install my kit. What other Honda models can I get a set of UCA's to work with my camber kit? I thought I heard a '92+ Integra ones would work, but I dunno. Help please
What kind of camber kit did you get? That sounds a little odd.
I got the SPC adjustable balljoints(1.5-3 degrees adjustment). Yeah, it is kinda odd. You'd think they would have made it easy to replace the balljoints if you needed to but there is a weld on the upper control arm around the top of the balljoint instead of a C clip(think that's what it's called). Even the Haynes manual says the balljoints are not replaceable without the whole UCA as one unit. The install sheet that came with the kit refers to a couple of tools to use to get them off(tools they sell), but I'm not going to spend hundreds more just for tools I'm only going to use once. That said it's obviously possible to get them out somehow. Anyways, if I have too(last resort) I'll cut the weld carfully to get the balljoints off. I don't want to compromise the integrity so I'd rather not cut the UCA. Suggestions?
Sounds like you'll have to grind the weld and press out the ball joint.
Maybe. I'll have to check some junkyards and see if 90-91' civic/crx upper control arms are different. It would suck if I cut the welds and something didn't work quite right...my car would be stranded.
