Without shocks or struts, the suspension collapses... as in the car body will lay on the ground. The car won't move at all unless a towtruck is pulling it.

Your "friend" needs a fist shoved into his jaw!!! Seriously, I mean he needs to just quit all together with anything to do with a car..... and for you.... you shouldnt have even had to ask that question, your response to him telling you that shoulda been, your a f*ucking moron, these cars have a coil over set up and if they are removed there will be no suspension.

Just a little friendly knowledge to put into your head for the future

Actually, the shocks/struts are merely dampeners. In an old school RWD car with 4 shocks you can take them all off and pitch them in the trash and drive the car around. Of course, the thing will bounce around and be unsafe to drive. The springs suspend the car, not the dampeners. However, if you take off the struts there is nothing to hold the spindle in place and in any kind of a coil-over setup, the shock/strut locates the spring. Either way, as Kai said, the car will lay on the ground and won't be going anywhere under its own power.

Here's what you should do, get a pair of new shocks. Replace yours. Take the old ones over to your friends house. Ram one firmly up his anus and beat him savagely about the head with the other one. Repeat as necessary until he gets a small semblance of clue.
