Default OBD1 wiring or PR3

I was wondering which is better for my CRX, converting the whole car to OBD1 and use a P28 or just buy a PR3 and run the 3 wires for the vtec? I really don't know I was told that all I had to do is buy the jumnper for the ECU and get a P28 but, then I was told that there is more to that? Some body steer me in the right direction.

For a D16Z6, use an RPM switch to activate VTEC.

For a B16A, use a PR3 or PW0 ECU.

i think if you want to use the obd1 ecu, you will have to get a 4 wire o2 sensor, a jumper harness, and an obd1 distributor as well as the ecu. i just put a sohc vtec zc in my hatch (same as d16z6), and am currently using a rpm switch and a pg7 ecu and my car runs fine.

but if you are planning to get rid of the d16 in a month, why would you want to spend money on converting to obd1 or getting an rpm switch to run your d16? it would be a waste of money, dont you think?

i think you can use the pr3 or pw0 ecu to run the d16. why not just get one of those, run the 3 wires for vtec, add a 2nd o2 sensor, and now youll be ready for when you drop the b16 in. makes more sense to me. unless im wrong about being able to use the b16 ecu, i would think it would run rich but thats it. anyways, good luck.

A PR3 or PW0 would freak out if it doesn't get a knock sensor signal... which the D16 doesn't have.
