Default aftermarket exhaust

Do all of the aftermarket cat-backs for the CRX Si still have 2 90 degree bends for the muffler?

if you mean from the point were it crosses the back axle and bends left then goes to the auctual muffler then has another bend to the exhaust tip after the muffler? if so then yes,its how it is set up there isnt really much room to run a fart can muffler straight out the back with out modifying it,unless you take a table saw to it and cut off a section of the center and weld it back together,i cant imagine it would be that hard to do,if you have access to a table saw and a welder it can be done as long ass you have some abilitly to weld a straight line it shouldnt look to bad.

i did custom exhaust on my 91 hatch and ran it out the other side than stock. just gotta make sure you have a pretty small muffler for it to have clearance and a guy who is good with exhaust work to make it fit well. Mine fits perfect and i'm definetely glad i did it.

That's probably what I'm going to do, are there any smaller mufflers that are quiet and still have good flow?

i'm not really sure, i got a cheap one and got lucky that it sounds good. i believe the muffler has to be 18 inches or shorter to fit in there without hanging out too far.

well i think even 18 inches is a bit to big,i would try and find a after market muffler that is for a del sol.not the cat back but just the muffler,a lot of del sol people were complaining about having no exhaust options so some companys made mufflers that would work on there cars and there about 12"a friend of mine had one on his del sol it came with the car allready so he didnt know were it came from or what manufacturer

There really isn't enough room under a CRX to eliminate the bends.

I've looked at it on a lift and it looks possible as long as I can find a small enough muffler.

So Del Sol's didnt have the bends?

no,no .im talking just the muffler its self.made specifically for a del sol.its a generic can style muffler but smaller.there is no piping involved except what you have the shop weld to the end of it.all it is is the muffler.

oops, didn't see this was for a crx, probably a little less room behind it than my hatch. still though it's gotta be possible. Just please don't do it with a stock bumper and leave the cutout on the other side...that looks bbad.
