98' D16Y8 V-Tech in 90 CRX Si?
This is what is in 90 CRX Si. I bought it and had absoloutely no clue about cars at all. The price for the car was $1000. Is also has the d16y8 tranny and a fuel injection from a 95 civic. there was clutch problem and practically no exhaust when i bought the car along with some bad paint. was it a good or bad price to pay?

1,000 dollars for a 90 Si that's rust free and running well and strong is a GREAT price. You got a great deal if those three things are true.
First of all, it's VTEC, not V-tech, not vtech, just VTEC. k? k.
And yes, you can put a D16Y8 engine into a CRX with little to no hassle, depending on how much you want to pay to get the right parts.
The engine itself will bolt right in, no custom parts necessary. The wiring is a bit tricky if you go the inexpensive route, because you need to wire in the VTEC equipment. But, there's a company that makes a computer that plugs in with no wire changes.
www.zdyne.com check them out, if you're willing to spend some extra money, that D16Y8 swap can be done really easily.
There are lots of options for engine swaps into the CRX, but most of the larger engines (out of the Acura Integra, CRV, and combinations thereof) require a different transmission and engine mounts than what you have, so those are larger more complex swaps.

yeah, thats pretty much how it is. the VTEC (is that good) is already installed and the car runs great, just the outside cosmetics need work and that's probably what the owner didn't want to hassle with.

I have a 89CRXsi w/d16y8, runs strong
a lil bit ago i put the y8 in my car and the wiring is tricky but, i got it done, i wired the v-tec to a button, works good, i got the head ported and polished and a 5 angle valve job, also put zc tranny. i dont't recommend this swap, i'd rather have a z6 than a y8 because of wiring purposes. But it's all good
