CRX w/ ZC motor wont run right
My friend has 1990 CRX HF with a ZC motor swap. It throws a code 14 which is the idle air control valve. What do you get those off of for a zc? Like will the one off a 86-89 Teg work? The problem with it is that it runs VERY rich. It almost sounds like it hits rev limiter around 2500 rpm and makes like I want to say a spudder sound. Its got a Integra ECU the 86-89. It leaves like a black cloud of smoke behind you when you punch it. It runs alright. He ran a 16.5 at the track with bolt ons and a DX tranny. Any info on why it runs like this and how to fix it and about the IACV will be a huge help.

Which ecu specifically does he have? It needs to be an 88-89, the 86-87's are no good. There is a huge difference.
Maybe he just needs to clean out the IACV. Take it out and clean it up with some carb cleaner.

If he was able to run on the track I pressumed that it was an 88-89, just making sure though.
It's also known as EACV...electronic air control valve. It's a small cylinder on the back side of the intake manifold that has two coolant hoses attached to it. It's held on by two bolts I believe.
If you need a new EACV you can just use one off a d16a6.

Well why does it run so rich? My buddy thats a honda mechanic said that will have nothing to do with why it runs so rich. It makes a sound like its hitting rev limiter but its actually not. Like it kind of cuts out around 3000 rpm and sounds similar to rev limiter but keeps revving then it just goes away when you get to about 4500 or 5000 rpms.
Thanks for anymore help
