Tech Guru's I need help about a tranny question.
I have a 1990 crx Si and I need a tranny, I found an 89 dx 5 speed. My question is will this tranny fit? I am relatively sure that it will bolt up but there has been question about whether or not the shaft will fit my Si clutch. Any one know if this is true? I can get the DX tranny cheap and I don't mind that it will have a longer gear ratio.

Let me first say thank you for the information! Ok I see that the clutch and flywheel are different sizes but does that neccasarily mean the tranny wont work? The splines are the same and the tranny shaft size is the same. Since the only issue is clutch overall diameter, and thats all on the engine side really, then it should work in theory right?

the tranny will work fine if you use the proper flywheel/clutch/pressure plate for that tranny (mainshaft spline size: 20 count and 7/8 inch [this was the most common main shaft on the d series engines])...the flywheel will always bolt up no matter what year it is to the engine (5 5-star bolts)...that's all you need with any 89 tranny to get to work on any d series engine
