anytime you have to transfer energy (light, heat, mechanical, etc.) it loses power over distance

Default keeping the "D"

the rods on your b1 will handle about 150hp. that said swaping on a d16a6 head with all internals is a good start. the cam gear will be off half a tooth and you can run it either way(advanced or retarded) until you can get a cam gear.can't remember if the b1 is 16 valve or not.thats a pretty cheap start if you don't want to swap in an engine.also why dont you have a look at these sites the may be able to help:

theres not much hope with d15b1 engines... just plan on a swap. they arn't extremely complicated or anything really.
