the zc is your best bet for doing an easy and direct swap. the only thing you will have to do is change the distributor plug on your stock harness to the zc one, and run two wires to the exhuast cam

How much more performance will I get out of the ZC then the stock engine?

What are the future potentials with it......Supercharger or Turbo?

Is it easy to find parts for that engine? Like your basic boltons?

What car does it come out of?

Sorry about all the questions....i'm new to the Honda world. I'm crossing over from the Domestic Side.

The ZC has ~130HP versus the ~108HP on a stock Si engine. As for turbo/supercharger, I'm pretty sure you'd have to go custom on that because the ZC is it's own animal, especially the DOHC ZC. First gen integra parts bolt up, but I'm not aware of too many turbo kits for those either. The ZC came out of several JDM cars, it's not your standard run-of-the-mill early integra engines, but it is similar.

Well I want to be able to slap on a SC or a turbo in the future.

So would you recommend the B16 or the B18 in an 88 or 90 Si (still not sure which i'm getting)?

I would prefer the easiest swap...but then again I want it to be worth it too.

If i get the B16 would i just need new motor mounts?

Which car do the B16 and B18 come out of?

I also know that there are like that B18a1 or something like that. Which models would I be looking at?

thanks again!

You can easily build a custom turbo for around $1500 without buying those heavily marked up turbo kits like Greddy. I'm in the process of doing this. It is often referred to as a Junkyard Turbo.

A few of the major things are an exhaust manifold from a 92-95 CX or CRX HF.

The Turbo I got is from a 96 Eclipse T-25. I got it for 100 picked up.

You'll also need an adapter plate. There is someone around who makes them, but I forget who...there are obvious other things but those are some main things.....I'd go with the ZC over the b16.

Holler if you have questions.

Ok...so the ZC engine is a direct bolt on...no mods needed. But a Turbo is harder to come by, and no Supercharger.

The B16 or B18 requires Motor Mounts but other then that it is a bolt on....correct?
And there are SC and Turbos for them.

Am I right so far?

Why is the ZC a better engine in some peoples eyes?
Because it is cheaper to purchase?
Are there problems finding someone to work on it if needed?
And what about passing Emission testing with the ZC?

thanks again!

Turbo isn't that hard to come by and you can get a supercharger.....JRSC makes one. I think you need an adapter plate for that too.....

For B16a....you'll need the engine/tranny (ZC you can use your si tranny), motor mounts, shift linkage, ecu, wiring harnesses (depending Si, dx, hf), axles....am I forgetting anything? I might be.

The ZC is only ~20 HP less then the b16a.......and about half as expensive....get your ZC cams ground by crower for like 150-200 and you're at b16 specs (approx of course).

Do your research....the ZC gets all its part from the 89 Integra...you shouldn't need anyone else to work on it as long as you have some idea what you're doing.

The ZC is cheaper and easier. Add up all parts listed above...it adds up. But to each their own....You'll hear good and bad stories about all engines.

I had a b16a and was going to put it into an 89 DX hatch...it got to be a bigger pain then expected...I sold it, and bought my bro's ZC CRX. Which I helped install.

Emmisions...all depends on which state you're in. I'm not 100% sure for each state, but I do know ZC won't pass Cali and it will pass Colorado.

So any bolt ons for an 89 Integra will fit the ZC for example Intake, Headers, Pulleys and so on?

I'm not...someone mentioned something from a different forum that they did...and were worth every penny. Significant difference. I personnally am not, yet....but saving money and gathering more info on it.
