Default tranny

i got a question,im under the impression that i have an si tranny in my 88 dx hatch.the guy who i bought it from sed he had the motor rebuilt but he didnt say anything about the tranny, i red line at 35mph@4,000 rpm 2nd gear i can take it up to 60,and 3rd i imagine 90-100 "i got 2 points on my record and cant risk it right now" but my clutch is about to go so,thats the end of that. so is this the charactristics of a si tranny..

i believe that would be more characteristic of a dx tranny, an si tranny has closer gear ratio. i definetely can't do 100 in third.

do you have an si? i love my tranny to bad i cant keep it when i do my b16 swap,i hate short gears,on my friends integra it seems like i have to shift every 3 seconds. would a dx tranny from a newer model have the same gear ratio on my new motor?

it's more difficult then that...in 1988, 1989 and 90-91 the CRX SI had differences each of those years with its flywheel and clutch combo

do a web search as there is some content on spline counts between the main shaft, flywheel and clutch (including thickness of clutch)

you can run an ls tranny on your b16 swap which is the longer gear ration like you like. although most people would definetely prefer the b16 tranny cause so much more acceleration. i'd actually trade you my ls tranny for your b16 tranny if you want.

i don't think he has an b16a si motor...also you can't put a b series tranny on a d series motor

should read the whole thread first, he says he's doin a b16 swap and wants to maintain the long gear ratio. i know that you can't use b series with d series, pretty common knowledge.
