You don't use a different ecu, you send zdyne yours, they add the one wire. You would need to use an obd-0 dizzy, so the 92-95 would not work. You can use your old dizzy, it'l just take a slight modification as only 2 outa 3 bolts line up.
"The B16A One Wire Conversion is the fastest and easy way to run your hybrid. No RPM switch boxes or harness swaps required - Run just a single wire for your engine swap!
Unlike all other "B16 retunes" the ZDYNE B16 One Wire Conversion comes complete with VTEC solenoid control built into the ECU. Full VTEC operation with sensitivity for water temperature and throttle position. Fuel and ignition curves are doubled and recurved for correct operation of VTEC and non-VTEC modes. Road tested and now dyno tested to within 1 peak HP of B16A JDM ECU!
Perfect for B16A VTEC engine swaps or D16Z6* / D16Y8** VTEC head swaps
*The 88-91 Si/HF distributor is required. **88-91 Si/HF distributor bolts right on! "
Since you are in essence doing a mini-me swap then this should work.
One other issue you will have though, is the intake mani. That too is wired up obd-1, I believe the big issue there is the injectors and I think there's a trick with using the resistor box or something there, I'm not exactly sure on what.
So long story short. Do an obd-1 conversion, it'l cost less in the long run. Talkin' $125 for a conversion harness, maybe $10 in some wire, and another $75-100 for a p28 (which is basically the same ecu that was on that engine in the first place).
But if you wanna go zdyne, go for it, hope you got a pm6 ecu to start with. You'll be looking at $320 minimum there.
And lastly, if you're thinking that because Zdyne can convert an ecu to work as a b16a ecu that you can just find a b16 ecu and throw it on there, then you're mistaken. The convert the already existing electronics to work with a couple added electronics. The b16a ecu will be looking for all completely different electronics.
Hope this helps, it's 11pm here and I've been slaving over a stupid d16a6 swap the last 3 days with minimal sleep (up 36 hours straight the first day..err,day and a half..)
Only reason I know this info is cuz I spent about 3 months scanning this board and honda-tech for like 6 hours a day on info about this, hopefully I've done good colaborating the info. Try searching mini me, d16z6, and d16y8 here, and on honda-tech.com in the crx forums, you'll find a lot of info that might be easier to read than what I've said, or it might be more confusing cuz nobody gives straight answers you gotta piece it together like I did.
G'night.
