engine taking longer to start.. any clue?
I have a 91 crx and usually i just get in and it cranks right up.. lately its been taking longer to crank up like if it isnt going to crank up at all.. could this be something with the fuel? let me know.. please leave feedback. thanks

put your location in your profile...it could be the cold weather as a culprit but you could be in hawaii from anything i know...it could also be your rotor in the distributor is getting worn out, alternator, etc.

live in south texas so heat is all i get here... well if it was alternator sometime is would not even crank up at all correct? so it has to be getting power.... im not sure... anyone got some more suggestions? i check plug wires and they work.. spark plugs just replaced like 2 weeks ago...

How old is your battery? You might want to take a voltmeter to see what it's reading at rest. In any case, I don't expect to get more than 5 years out of a battery here in upstate NY...that Texas heat isn't good for them either.
Additionally, if the electrical system is in order, check out the fuel system. When was the fuel filter changed last? Has your fuel economy changed recently? Do the plugs seem gas fouled?

This is not always true. To really make sure its not your alternator here is what you do.....Start Your Car....Pop your hood and disconnect your battery....If car still runs then its not your alternator & if cars dies then its your alternator.
But if it isn't your alternator check your distributor and fuel pump like said earlier!!

I had the same problem, but all it was was my battery contacts. The stock honda ones are really cheap and don't provide good contact, especially by the time your car is 13 years old. I just replaced my battery contacts with a 3 dollar set and my car jumps right up every time I turn the key.

Does it do this after sitting a while, or every startup? The reason I ask is that I have a little cranking time in the morning but after driving it it starts right up. Like the fuel rail is depressurizing overnight.
When you're cranking, is it a steady fast crank or does it slow down the more you crank?
