umm, i dont know the proper way of telling but personally i take a small cup or container of gasoline and pore it (slowly) around the intake manifold-head connection and listen for a surge, the idle will drop if all of a sudden if u find a leak and u can listen for it also, you can also do the same with oil but this makes a big mess and personnally i dont mind gasoline spilled in my garage because itll just evaporate anyways, dont do it with water though because u'll get water vapor in ur engine (BAD). maybe someone else has a better way though and will post it, i just thought about that when i had the problem and it worked so thats what ive done ever since
