Default JDM ZC in 89 CRX SI Axle question....

hey guys I know this question has probably came up a lot but if someone could just give me a quick answer I'd appreciate it. My inner cv joint just came apart while a guy was test driving my car, he was GOING TO BUY IT, but then all of the sudden when he punched it, CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK. This is the second time it has happened and this time it cost me sellin my car. Could you guys tell me which Drivers side axle I should use that is at least an inch or 2 longer so that it wont keep comming apart on turns or when you accelerate hard. thanks in advance.

you are currently using the 88-89 integra axle where as you should be using 90-91 integra NON abs axles, the earlier years were approximately 2 inches short which will cause stress on the inner cv which will rip that tripod assembly into peices and will throw axle grease all along the street when it happens. i know this because i broke an axle before i realized the difference between the axles, and the abs axle will not work due to the sensor on the outer cv joint which will interfere with your hubs. good luck and you can buy 90-91 integra axles at any pepboys for around 70 bucks a peice with the core return of ur old axle.

no problem buddy. yah si axles wont work as far as i know, ive got 91 integra non abs axles and use the zc intermediary shaft for my zc with civic ex hubs, you can use ur existing si hubs, and wont need a replacement just new axles when u eventually bust urs

ok ummmm i got a problem. I just found out the integra axle you tell me about here is 2 pieces, with an intermediate shaft. I don't have the bracket for the intermediate shaft to go into and connect the outer axle. The axles I have been using were just one piece from the tranny to the rotor. I have no way of fixing this now, where am I gonna get that part to connect the intermediate shaft and the out axle. I know the 88-91 integras wont work either because they all use an intermediate shaft, help please!!!

Supposing you have a ZC tranny you can use the 89 Integra Intermediate Shaft but you have to cut off the top part of the bracket to get it to bolt up. Than use 90-93 Integra axles.

if you were using the Si axle and it fit the transmission, then you don't have a ZC transmission - the Si axles are too small for the ZC - do you have an actual ZC or could this be a D16A1?

i would strongly suggest against the early integra half shaft. its hard to modify you dont just have to cut off the top of the mounting bracket you also have to drill new holes and modify and move over another one. even if u pull this off more than likely when u tighten it down to the block it will bind and cause the shaft to not spin freely like it should. id strongly suggest checking ebay for the correct zc intermediary shaft they run about 75-80 bucks shipped approximately the same as the early year integra ones
